Retail

Because Wal Mart's international divisions are key to its expansion, all business practices must be accurate and understandable. Language Translation, Inc. aided substantially in that effort by translating all back-office accounting manuals and computer screens from English into: Spanish ( Mexico), Spanish ( Argentina), Portuguese (Brazilian), Canadian French and Chinese. Am LTI team devoted 18 months at Wal*Mart's Bentonville, Arkansas, headquarters performing this assignment.

Wal Mart became an international company in 1991 when a SAM'S CLUB opened near Mexico City. Just two years later, the Wal-Mart International Division was created to oversee growing opportunities worldwide. Today, customers at more than 1,200 units in nine countries prove that Wal-Mart's Every Day Low Price promise is a message clearly understood in any language. The division currently operates stores and clubs employing more than 303,000 associates in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom.

Manufacturing

When Callaway held a three-day employee meeting in Carlsbad for employees from Japan, the company relied on the Japanese conference interpretation capabilities of Language Translation, Inc.

Callaway Golf Company designs, creates, builds and sells a wide variety of golf products including clubs, balls and putters. Callaway believes that any new offering must be a significant improvement not only upon the products of its competitors, but also on its own. The company's products are designed and built on its eight-building campus in Carlsbad, California.

Automotive

Because of its intense customer focus, Kia Motors America insists on accurate, easy-to-understand translations of its vehicle owner manuals. With that in mind, Kia contracted with Language Translation, Inc. to translate into Spanish owner's manuals for the Sephia and Sportage vehicles. The results: Ease of comprehension for a vital market segment of Kia Motors America: the Mexican-American population who are fluent in Spanish but not English.

Kia Motors America, based in Irvine, California, is dedicated to the strategies of its parent company, Kia Motor Corporation of Seoul, South Korea. The guiding principles are easily stated: “Provide high-quality, high-value vehicles at prices well below the competition and back them up with a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty and a customer-first policy.”

Language Translation, Inc. translated a 22-page retail specialty automotive accessories catalog from American English to Mexican Spanish. “I was extremely pleased with the results and the timely manner in which the work was completed,” says Gregory W. Reliable Automotive is a national wholesale distributor of after-market automotive accessories. From its Overland Park, Kansas headquarters, Reliable Automotive manages more than 250 vendors and inventories in excess of 50,000 items. To increase Reliable Automotive's business, retail catalogues are placed on counters in retail stores and mailed to consumer homes. Printing catalogues in Spanish is important because Spanish-speaking customers account for 10% of Reliable Automotives business. “Our catalogs send the visual message that we understand and can respond in their native language,” says Gregory W. Doyle, President and Chief Operating Officer for Reliable Automotive.

Health Care

Language Translation, Inc. is proud to have assisted a variety of UCSD departments with their language translation needs. These include the Medical Center, Reproductive Medicine Department, Patient Education Department, Owens Clinic and Anti Viral Research Center.

Hospitality/Restaurants

Contributing to the Hotel Del Coronado's excellent customer service are numerous dedicated employees, many of whom speak only Spanish. Thanks to Language Translation, Inc. these food servers, maintenance workers and cleaning crews can now read their employee manual in their native language. They can also understand management's key messages because LTI has provided interpreting services for employee meetings.

When Spanish-speaking employees can comfortably understand management messages, they are better able to implement the hotel's rules for impeccable conduct and superior hospitality. Translation Services is proud to be part of those successes.

Sports Teams

Language Translation, Inc. has made a positive difference in the Chargers' promotional efforts. Its contribution: translating the Chargers' brochure into Spanish.

San Diego Chargers “An integral part of San Diego County's sports history since 1959”, the San Diego Chargers are perhaps as well known for their community spirit as they are for their football games. As a quote from senior management summarizes, “San Diego Chargers fans are the best in the NFL, and the entire Chargers organization has a great appreciation for the support they give us.” Much of that support comes from the Spanish-speaking fans who live in San Diego and nearby Tijuana and Rosarito Beach, Mexico. Providing this vital base of fans with promotional information is key to the Chargers' business development strategy.
