Personal Document Translation

Language Translation, Inc. offers an official certification of translation for all our translations, with personal documents being some of the most commonly certified documents because they contain important personal information. LTI offers certified translations for birth certificates, adoption papers, marriage licenses, wills, diplomas, school transcripts, passports, and many other types of personal documents.

Our certification gives an additional level of validity to the translation: helping prevent fraud and giving you peace of mind. This is just what many organizations, governmental and non-governmental alike, are looking for. They require “certified translations” because they want to have the assurance that the translated document you are providing was translated completely, accurately, and by a professional.

If you have a personal document translation or any other document that needs to have a certified translation, LTI is here to help. Just follow the two simple steps below.

  1. Request a quote:

For a general quote, use the “Free Quote ” button above. For a more specific quote, including cost and turnaround time, email a scanned copy of your document to info@languagetranslation.com or fax a copy of your document to (619) 516-4089. In both cases, please make sure to include: your contact information (name, phone number, and email) and the source and target languages.

  1. Provide payment information and choose method of delivery:

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will it cost to translate my documents?

This depends on the number of words in your document. All projects for individuals are subject to a $95 minimum fee . Once a project exceeds this minimum, the normal rates for the appropriate language(s) apply. Many personal documents fall under the minimum fee.

How long will it take to translate my documents?

This depends on the number of words in your document. Most personal documents can be completed in 1-2 business days.

How fast can I receive my documents?

The fastest way to receive your translation is to pick it up at our office Mon.-Fri. 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Regular U.S. mail usually takes anywhere from 1-3 business days for deliveries in the U.S. If you need overnight delivery, LTI uses express mail services, such as UPS and FedEx and will only charge you the direct cost for those services.

LTI also offers a RUSH translation service. The availability of this service is dependent on the specific nature of your translation and the fee is usually 20% of the original job cost, but may be higher in some cases.

What is a certification?

A certification is an official document signed by an LTI project coordinator which certifies that the translation is true, accurate and complete. This certification is backed by LTI’s solid reputation for unfailing quality and the experience of more than 20 years in business.

Do I need a certified translation?

You can choose to have any translation done by LTI certified. Whether or not you need the certification depends on the requirements of the organization or entity that will receive your document. If you do not know if you need certification, check with the organization or entity requiring the translation. The list below contains some of the most commonly certified documents and may help you decide whether or not you want the translation to be certified.

How much does certification cost?

Each certified copy of a translation costs $10. Even if you decide you need another certified copy later, the charge will still be only $10 for each certified copy.

What is the difference between certification and notarization?

Notarizations are really just certifications that have been notarized. This involves an LTI project coordinator personally appearing before a Notary Public and signing the certification. The Notary then puts his or her official seal on the certification and makes an entry of the document in his or her official Notary Journal. This is a further level of protection against fraud.

Do I need a notarized translation?

You can choose to have any translation done by LTI notarized. Whether or not you need the notarization depends on the requirements of the organization or entity that will receive your document. The notarized certifications are not required as often as the simple certifications. If you do not know if you need notarization, check with the organization or entity requiring the translation.

How much does notarization cost?

Each notarized copy of a translation costs $30. Even if you decide you need another notarized copy later, the charge will still be only $30 for each notarized copy.

What if LTI does my translation, but I find out later that I need it certified or notarized?

No problem. LTI can make another copy for you that is certified or notarized and you will only be charged for the certification or notarization as applicable.

How do I know that LTI’s translation is correct?

LTI takes quality seriously. In the more than 20 years that we have been in business, we have always carefully screened our translators and have always used only those linguists who are highly qualified translators. We also continually monitor our projects, with each translation being personally reviewed by a project manager before delivery. For further information, please see our product guarantee.

I already have a translation of my document. Can LTI certify the translation?

LTI cannot certify a translation that was not done by our translators. What we can do is edit the translation. Once the translation has been edited, we can certify it. Each editing job is subject to our minimum fees and normal hourly editing rates.

What will be included in the final certified or notarized translation package?

How will LTI protect my personal information?

At LTI we make sure that your personal information is treated appropriately. We meet or exceed standard business practices for information security and all of our translators have signed non-disclosure agreements. Additionally, LTI will not use any of the contact information you provide for any purpose, other than to contact you about your specific inquiry.
